3D Image: Post Apocalyptic World (Nuclear War)

In my 3D post-apocalyptic world, I used a lot of images off of the internet and turned them into brushes. I used the colors blue, white and red on a black background. Throughout the process of making my world, my idea sort of changed a little bit, but not too much. I put a lot of the things that I wanted in my image, I tried really hard to stick to the plan that I had made in the beginning. I didn’t put many ruined cars in my piece, I didn’t put the big crater because it would have taken up too much space. I did show a little house that had been built by two people who came together, there was a bucket on a pole that they could fill with water to shower. In the end, I didn’t show most of the ten things that would survive such as the cockroaches, rivers, animals or any parts of an amusement park. In my piece there is a tiny red flower in front of the house and it is the one thing that represents hope.  In my piece I feel that the sky is the most successful, it shows 3D very well. If I had to fix anything in my piece, it might be the blurriness of the buildings, or find some buildings that are falling apart and work with the landscape.

HERO (art movie)

HERO (Art Movie)
1. From looking at the explanation of an art movie, I think that the movie Hero is considered an art movie because it is a very serious movie, there is no laughter or happiness in it. It focuses on the dreams of everyone, Nameless and Snow wanting to slay the king, Broken Sword and the king wanting to have peace. The movie has music for every scene and a different color for each as well.

2. The director makes this movie for everyone by not displaying a lot of violence but it has enough action in it to make it interesting for everybody. The director makes the movie with action, drama and a romantic part to make it fun for everyone. The director also makes the movie intense and has everybody on the edge of their seats waiting to see what will happen.

3. Yes, I did like the movie, I think that the movie was very well done. It was very dramatic and intense, it was cool to see the perspective of Nameless and the king. I think that making different ways to show how it happened was interesting and I liked the color coding of the different scenes as well.

4. In the Golden Forest when Moon attacked Snow, everything was a yellow gold color, and then when Snow finally defeated Moon and she died, everything turned a very crimson blood red. I think that the different colors for the different scenes emphasizes those scenes and makes a big impact on the viewer of the movie. The different colors of the scenes I think were to mark the start of one important scene and the end of one.

Post Apocalyptic World : brainstorming

Nuclear War

a. What do you think could be a possible end of the world? How do you think this particular disaster

would affect the physical environment? (Ie. Would there be a lot of explosions, charred buildings, etc.)

I think that the end of the world would be by a nuclear war. I think that the world would be left with destroyed, charred buildings. There will be abandoned houses, cars crushed, shattered glass. There would be debris and garbage everywhere. Everything would be dark and gloomy. There would be a huge crater.

b. What particular aspect do you think you would like to show in your piece of art? Ex. The

psychology of the survivors, the physical world and how it’s been rebuilt? Perhaps a more positive

world, where we are ecologically and socially harmonious with the future landscape?

In my piece of art I would show the survivors coming together, finding anything that they can to rebuild a home, and finding food. There will be buildings that are only half there. I will be showing rebuilt houses.

c. What are ten thing that you think would survive the disaster that you would like to portray? Why

do you think these things in particular would make it?

Ten things that would survive are the vehicles, people, some houses and buildings survived, there would be cockroaches, one little flower, tools, there are rivers, some animals, an amusement park, some trees will be left over.

d. What could serve as a symbol of hope in your picture?

I think that there could be a tiny little flower still alive and that will be the glimmer of hope.

e. Take a look at the art or T&T (Tyler Brett and Tony Romano), specifically, Onward Future. These

artists depict a future that can be recognized because their vision is based on trends we see around

us now. They offer a chance to imagine and understand what the future may possibly hold. What do

you think about their art? What do you think makes their work appealing to others?

I’m not really sure I like the art, it looked too cartoon like and it was very simple, it didn’t really catch my eye.

Montage : Does Love Last Forever?

Media Arts Montage

Does love last forever?

Baillie Vyhnal

Friday, February 20th 2015

Materials:

photos from the internet

brushes

erasers

blending

color balancing

hue/saturation

Technical:

In my montage, I used multiple brushes to layer and add effect. I used photos from the internet, I cut out some parts of the photos and pasted them in my montage. I used hue and saturation and color balancing. I used two different pictures and blended them to make a really good background.

Idea or Concept:

In my montage, I wanted to portray love and ask the question: does it last forever? My idea was to have many reds, pinks and purples because those are nice colors that have to do with love. I wanted to have many pictures that were symbols of love. Throughout my montage, my idea changed and i ended up using many different soft colors such as blue, green, mint, pink, yellow etc. I ended up using some photos but not all of them because they ended up not going with my idea. I ended up adding different things and using more brushes than I thought I would use at the start.

Influences:

I actually did not look at any work to inspire mine, I wanted to have my own ideas and I did not want to copy anything that someone else did.

Composition:

I made my montage have many things around the outside, like a border almost. There were many layers. I believe that there were the same amount of things on each side.

I used a roller coaster to move the eye from the bottom left to the bottom right. I used little arrows, feathers and stars of different colors to make the eye go up to the right hand corner. I used three pocket watches to move the eye across to the top left hand corner and then I used the eiffel tower to move the eye back down to the bottom left hand corner.

Motivation:

I wanted to make a masterpiece, something that i thought was beautiful and i could call my own.

Critical Assessment:

I feel the the layering at the top of the page is the best thing in the montage, I like the look of it and how colorful and crazy it looks. I thought that the amount of layers that i had really made the montage come to life. During the process I was very surprised about how hard it actually was to find pictures. With additional time, I would change some things, I would change the bottom right, I felt that i had rushed it and it would look nicer if I had spent more time on it.

Montage "i want to believe" Brainstorming

Montage:

When you hear “I want to Believe”, what do you think of? God? Other
planets and peoples? That earth will become a better place? That you
will grow up to fulfill your dreams? Does this make you think about the
universe, earth, your country, town, or school?

When I hear “I want to believe”, I think of:
  •           Fate
  •           That everything happens for a reason, and that people come into our lives for a reason
  •           That there are ghosts/spirits that are stuck on this earth looking out for loved ones
  •           That there is alien life on other planets
  •           Karma; what goes around comes back around
  •           Happiness is a choice
  •            love lasts forever
  •           Magic/Miracles
  •           Peace
  •           Society will stop being so judgmental and wont pressure us to be perfect everyday

baillie brush assignment

This picture is kind of looking at a city that is normal and above them there is a night sky that looks almost magical.
